Buying shoes from abroad, or from a brand that only lists EU sizes? Our Shoe Size Conversion calculator converts between the main systems.
How to use the calculator (Shoe Size Conversion)
- Choose the size system you know: UK, EU, US men's, US women's or foot length.
- Enter the size.
You'll see the size in every system, plus a chart of common sizes.
How shoe sizes work
The systems are based on the length of the shoe's last (the foot-shaped mould):
- UK: each size is ⅓ inch (8.47mm), and UK 0 is 8.33 inches.
- EU (Paris points): each size is ⅔ cm, so the EU size is 1.5 × the last length in cm.
- US men's is usually the UK size + 1, and US women's the UK size + 2.
Adult size chart
| UK | EU | US men's | US women's |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 37 | 5 | 6 |
| 5 | 38 | 6 | 7 |
| 6 | 39.5 | 7 | 8 |
| 7 | 40.5 | 8 | 9 |
| 8 | 42 | 9 | 10 |
| 9 | 43 | 10 | 11 |
| 10 | 44.5 | 11 | 12 |
A worked example
With the calculator's default settings, a UK 7 is about EU 40.5, a US men's 8 or a US women's 9.
Frequently asked questions
Why do different brands fit differently?
There's no single international standard, so brands round sizes differently. Always check the brand's own chart.
How do I measure my foot?
Stand on a sheet of paper, mark your heel and longest toe, and measure between the marks. Do it in the evening, when feet are slightly larger.
Does it work for children's shoes?
This calculator covers adult sizes. Children's sizes use a different starting point.
